Snakewood Cane
Snakewood Cane
This exhibition quality, hand crafted walking cane is made from one of the world's rarest wood species, Snakewood. It is called "Snakewood" because it has a unique grain pattern that resembles snake skin; it is also an extremely dense and hard wood. From the woodworker's perspective, I hate snakewood! Its quite a troublesome wood that enjoy self-destructing during its drying process. Its beauty does tempt me to use it though, but don't expect too many snakewood canes here. The divider has brass and a center of tight curl figured gidgee wood. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
Snakewood is a super dense wood but it is also brittle and can crack. This piece can be used daily and enjoyed but caution is advise against dropping against hard surfaces. weight of this piece is above average.
