Mirindiba Rose and Imbuia Cane
Mirindiba Rose and Imbuia Cane
Here’s an eye-catching cane with a new species of wood, Mirindiba Rose from Brazil with intense curl figure. I don’t know much about this species, its rarely exported as timber because I’ve only seen it once, but I found a few pieces for sale 5 years ago and have been seasoning for use them until now. The curl figure is quite dramatic and intense with a color that is golden brown with mustard hues, it also has a nice chatoyance. The bottom 2/3 of the shaft are also figured wood from Brazil, its Imbuia, a better known timber species but also rare and overharvested, now protected. It’s a wild piece of wood with swirly grain, crinkle curls throughout, and contrasting colors. A cane for figured wood lovers! Would make a nice daily use piece, but fancy enough for special occasions. It’s cane weight is medium, could be used by most anyone. Total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
