Bois De Rose Cane

$800.00

This striking cane features one of the world's rarest rosewoods called "Bois De Rose" from Madagascar. Bois De Rose is among my top 5 favorite rosewoods for its gorgeous color, a beautiful dark maroon red, its also a very dense wood and stable. Occasionally Bois De Rose will have black line figuring which is present in this piece, an added element of beauty. “Bois De Rose” is French for “Rosewood” and this species only grows on parts of the island of Madagascar. Today its totally trade banded and logging is strictly illegal, its an endangered species. I have a little stash of this precious wood that I’m savoring, once its gone it’ll be gone for good.

Its finished with a very nice ebony shaft, though dark it has tight stripe figured grain and broad fiddleback along its length, some of my best striped ebony. The ebony appears chocolate brown in most lighting conditions from a distance, but brighter light will reveal its great grain and a fine chatoyance. Its striped are actually more apparent in person than the dark pictures suggest. Cane weight is Medium, good for daily use by most anyone. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
