This heirloom quality cane is made exclusively from African Blackwood. This wood is the densest and darkest member of the rosewood family of species. African blackwood is very dark like ebony, but not black; in fact African blackwood is chatoyant but you'll need a bright light or the sun to see this wood come alive. Most of the African blackwood tree is black, but a thin layer of the wood along the outside of the tree is yellow (sapwood), which was captured artistically in both the handle and shaft. The sapwood color is tied together with a brass divider. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
This is a heavy cane. African blackwood is super dense and heavy, since the shaft is also African blackwood this piece has respectable heft.
Very rare for me to offer African blackwood in shafts, this wood is usually only available in small pieces.
Last images are of the Blackwood tree (locals call it Mpingo), in natural habitat.
