Siam Rosewood Pistol Grip Cane
Siam Rosewood Pistol Grip Cane
An exquisite, handmade cane, this piece has a special handle made out of figured Siamese rosewood with a variety of dark colors swirled together. Siamese rosewood is extremely rare and its one of the most coveted woods in the world, particularly in China. This piece came from the “Y” between two major branches in a large tree, its called “crotch” figure and its some of the wildest looking grain with curls and movement of all kinds. Its a dark piece but has a host of colors ranging from red and oranges, to greens, to browns and yellows. Under brighter light conditions the grain and its colors come to life with very nice chatoyance. Ultra special material from the “top of the top shelf”
The divider of the cane matches with end pieces on the back of the handle, its red amboyna burl and brass. Its finished with a very nice ebony shaft, though very dark it has tight stripe figured grain and broad fiddleback along its length, some of my best striped ebony. The ebony appears chocolate brown in most lighting conditions, like the handle, but direct light or sunlight will reveal its great grain and a fine chatoyance. Its striped are actually more apparent in person than the dark pictures suggest. Cane weight is Medium. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
