Rosewood and Rhodochrosite Cane
Rosewood and Rhodochrosite Cane
This heirloom quality cane is handcrafted from a rosewood species so obscure that it doesn't have a "common name" in the Western world, only its Latin scientific name: Dalbergia Oliveri. It's dense and durable, full of rich color, and has a lovely chatoyance, plus this example has lovely grain. This wood was taken from the crotch of a large tree and has special grain because of that. The dark purple lines running across the grain and the fine chatoyant curls that are running almost parallel to the grain are completely unique, I've never seen another piece of wood like it! A warm copper divider leads into a shaft of dark purple kingwood from Mexico, another special rosewood species and the second most dense rosewood. The kingwood is finely chatoyant and very pretty. On the end of the handle is a pretty pink stone called Rhodochrosite, it lights up and glows in bright light for a lovely effect. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit. A heavy cane on account of the Kingwood shaft. For user of lighter stature it might not be appropriate to use for extended outings
