Bois De Rose Lapidary Cane

$2,000.00

Here is an elegant canes with deep maroon red colors and some very special materials. The handle is Bois de Rose wood from Madagascar, this species is very rare and any materials available are decades old. The Dalbergia Maritima tree (Bois de Rose's Latin scientific name) is nearly extinct in its natural habitat and highly protected. The divider and end pieces on the handle are fossilized dinosaur bone from Utah. Millions of years in the dry desert has turned the bone into agate and it has taken on a dark purply color very similar to the rosewood - a perfect fit. Upon close inspection the dinosaur bone's cell structure is clearly visible. It wasn't possible to identify which dinosaur the bone fragment was from, but from its location and age there's no doubt that it was stomping around North America 150 million years ago! The shaft is another rare piece of wood, similar in many respects to the rosewood handle, it is Madagascar ebony. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
